It is important to always consider your target demographic when choosing which promo you should be giving away. If you have ever read my blog before, I'm sure that you already know this - and you're probably sick of hearing me say it-. Here at United Print Group, we love listening to our clients. It is how we are able work together to figure out the best way to increase brand awareness, and boost sales.
On my recent trip to Japan, naturally I grabbed all of the promos that I could. Specifically whilst strolling through the city of Nagoya in the shopping district of Sakae, I picked up a couple of items:
These are packets of tissues. Clearly, they are a useful item. But what are these packs of tissues even telling me?
This one seems to be for a pachinko arcade. Arcades in Japan are ridiculously awesome, by the way) This piece was simply a small packet of tissues with a full color insert. Not the highest quality. Its bright and cull of cute characters (it is from Japan, after all), but the poor print quality is mildly unsettling.
But what the heck is this pack of tissues promoting? The branding is printed directly onto the plastic tissue container. and the quality is way better than the paper insert.
There is printing on the front and back. There is plenty of room for info on this promo piece, but who would take the time to read it all? Not me (not like I could read it if I wanted to, anyway).
So what is the point of all of this? It is really easy to give out a promo that you know works because 'everyone else is doing it'. When you work with United Print Group, it's about more than just an effective promotional product. It's about connecting with your audience in a specific way. Not just
catering to anyone with the sniffles who might need a tissue.

Tablet Stand for iPads, etc.
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. Well, I don't have that kind of time, and no one wants to read 1,000 words about one of our favorite new products anyway. So take 52 seconds and watch this video about this tablet case and stand. It actually is pretty awesome and useful, especially if you use your iPad for presentations and videos.

Pens? Pens. PENS!!!
You just can never have enough pens. In our office here at United, we have hundreds - possibly (probably) - thousands of pens at our disposal at any time. Everyone uses, looses, borrows, steals, and needs pens.
Now look at the pen closest to you right now. Where did you get it? Unless you are one of those people with a writing fetish for those "high-flow ink" pens, chances are good that it just came across your desk somehow. You borrowed it from someone, or accidentally put it in your pocket after signing the receipt at your local pub last night, or someone gave it to you at a trade show.
You can never have enough pens. There are So Many brilliant ideas for good promotional products. But think about your target market and your budget, will a pen be a gift that they will find useful (how could anyone not find a pen useful?) And will this pen enable you to expose your brand to someone almost every day? The answer is a resounding yes.
Check out some of our pen collections:

Convention Checklist Part 5/5 - The Swagg!
I had to save the best for last... Checklist part 5 of 5 is the ever important Promotional Product! United was sporting 2 fan favorites; hand sanitizer and a crescent sling bag. People loved (LOVED!) the bag, and the hand sanitizer went over swimmingly since people spent all day shaking other people's hands.
Our swag was quite popular, but i have to give credit where credit is due. The New York Times and Con Ed held it down with some of my favorite items:

I really, really love the flying disc. I'm not sure why exactly, I think it just screams; "fun is about to take place". And the compressed sponge, well, I can explain that one even less, but I'll tell you this; it will remain on my desk/ in my kitchen/ on my mind for the next few months.
What is the lesson people? Just because you are one of the most respected, trusted, and stuffy-seeming news papers in the world, doesn't mean you can't give out frisbees at a trade show.

Cube
No, not that ridiculous movie from 1997 (or its equally ridiculous sequel, Hypercube), but the cube that sits on your desk and is useful for months. The Post-it Note cube.
If you were fortunate enough this year to obtain one of our showcase goodie bags, you have already seen United's Post-it Cube. This is definitely one of my favorite self promotions.

Check out the other 2 sides on our Web Photo Album. This is such a splendid promotion because the art just looks great, and you are also able to keep your companies name in front of your prospects for months and months. Look in the album, and you will see that we put contact info at the very bottom of the art. We did this so that even if the Notepad gets very low, our clients and prospects still have our contact info right in front of them.
Check our store for all types of different styles.

You might recognize this art from our last self promo. But since there is only one cost to have unique art on all 4 sides of the cube, we decided to go a different direction for the art on the other side.
